About ParentSquare

The Sunnyside Unified School District is partnering with a new communication tool. ParentSquare helps families stay informed and connected with schools, teachers, and district staff through email, text messages, phone calls, and mobile app notifications.

All parent and guardian contact information is securely synced from our student information system into ParentSquare.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to activate their ParentSquare account and download the mobile app to ensure they receive important district and school communications. With ParentSquare, you can:

  • Receive school and district announcements
  • Get emergency alerts such as school closures or delays
  • Communicate directly with teachers and staff
  • Receive messages by email, text, phone call, or app notification
  • Choose instant notifications or a daily digest
  • Communicate in your preferred language
  • Participate in group conversations
  • Sign up for conferences, volunteer opportunities, and events
  • Access shared documents, forms, and report cards

Types of Communication You May Receive:

  • District and school news
  • Attendance or schedule reminders
  • Emergency notifications
  • Classroom updates from teachers
  • Event information and sign-ups

Getting Started with ParentSquare

Families will receive an invitation by email or text message to activate their ParentSquare account.
You can also register at any time using the email address or phone number on file with your child’s school.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if my contact information is incorrect?
Please contact your child’s school office to update your email address or phone number.

What if I did not receive my ParentSquare invitation?
Visit Parentsquare or download the ParentSquare app and use the email address or phone number on file with the school to request a new invitation.

I am receiving too many notifications. Can I change that?
Yes. ParentSquare allows families to customize notification preferences.

  • You can choose:
  • Instant Notifications — Messages are delivered immediately
  • Digest Notifications — A daily summary is delivered once per day

Notification preferences can be changed from:
Desktop: My Account → Notification Settings
Mobile App: Menu → Account → Notifications

Will I still receive messages if I do not activate my account?
Yes. Families who do not activate their ParentSquare account will still receive important communications by email and phone.
However, activating your account provides access to all ParentSquare features and communication options.

Is ParentSquare replacing other communication tools?
Yes. ParentSquare consolidates many communication features into a single platform, reducing the need for multiple apps and messaging systems.

What about Class Dojo?

Because this is a district-wide implementation, and we are aiming to streamline communication for parents so that it’s simple and seamless, we will be sunsetting the Dojo app. All communication should be sent using ParentSquare only. We are confident that ParentSquare provides everything Class Dojo users love – and more! This includes the rewards system that our teachers love to use for PBIS incentives.

Managing Your Account if you are both a parent and district staff

Users are not able to merge their staff and parent accounts together. You can, however, sign into multiple accounts in a single session (think signing into Gmail and being able to toggle between your different email accounts).
